ARISTON Brand History

In the early 30-ies a small company was founded in the little-known town of Fabriano, the production of scales, for the regional market. After a while, it became clear that this enterprise can not bring its owners a large income. In the country at that time there were enough manufacturers of scales and that's why they did not allow a small firm Aristide Merloni to enter the local market.

The owner of the company could find an unoccupied niche only by the end of the Second World War, having started to produce cylinders intended for the burnt gas.

Then she started to produce electric water heaters. Industrie Merloni created a very good technological base, and thus began to manufacture various household appliances.

Shortly before the death, Aristide Merloni divided his company into parts between three sons. Thus, immediately formed three firms Merloni Elettrodomestici engaged in the production of large household appliances, Merloni Termosanitari producing baths and water heaters and Antonio Merloni SpA producing gas cylinders and scales.

Vittorio Merloni became the owner of Merloni Elettrodomestici and in a short time could achieve unprecedented commercial success. In 1989, he bought the trademark Indesit, and then Schulthess. Another of his successful acquisitions was the purchase of a half of the controlling stake in GDA, which produces household appliances of the brand Hotpoint, which is very popular in the UK.

In the early 2000s, the remaining 50% of shares were bought. In 2004, Merloni Elettrodomestici was renamed Indesit Company. Thus, a large concern was founded that combined several brands and thereby ensured the efficient distribution of all its products. It includes 14 factories in Italy, Russia, Great Britain, Turkey and Poland and 24 commercial representative offices. In total, this company employs more than 16,000 people. Indesit and Ariston brands produce modern gas stoves, refrigerators, dishwashers and washing machines.
