Candy Brand History

Candy Group is an Italian group of companies - one of the largest manufacturers of household appliances. The head office of Candy Group is located near Milan in Brugherio.

The first washing machine of the Italian manufacturer Candy appeared on the shelves of the stores "Eden Fumagalli" in 1945. And already in 1946, within the framework of the Milan Fair, a new product of the home appliance market was presented to consumers for a wide review. This fact also marked the beginning of the emergence of the brand "CANDY", which went down in history. Since that time, there have been a lot of different important events. Peppino and Nizo Fumagalli, the sons of the founder of Enzo, initiated the production of household appliances of a class such as a washing machine, thereby making the production of household appliances the main and main business of their company.

In the same distant 45-th year of the last century, the company makes a coup in washing, it launches "Bi-Matic", the first semi-automatic machine equipped with a centrifuge. At speed, Candy opens its first official overseas office in France. Because the manufacturer pays great attention to innovative technologies and introduces them to their production, then in six years the machines from Candy become fully automated.

There is a constant improvement of the machines produced by Candy, they are "taught" to save electricity and water, etc. Over time, the first dishwasher from Candy "Stipomatic" appears on the market. Now this brand, it's not just the washing machines. The inventor of the majority of innovations of Nizo Fumagalli, he became the owner of the award in the field of engineering from the University of Geneva.

The 70s became a new stage of development for the company. Candy acquires in the Parma world-famous brand "La Sovrana", specializing in the production of ovens and cookers, as well as the no less famous brand "Kelvinator Italia", which produces freezers and refrigerators. At the same time, Candy enters the American home appliance market, signing a contract with Kelvinator America.

The 80th year for the company was no less significant, Candy continues to acquire other Italian companies and their factories (Kelvinator UK, Rosières,) and expands on the international market. In the 90's the story continues, the company buys the Spanish company of the manufacturer of washing machines with vertical loading "Mouse", the company "Iberna", which produces refrigerators and the leader in the production of vacuum cleaners with its factories in Portugal, Scotland and Wales - the European branch of the group "Hoover" .
