Carrier Brand History

The history of the Carrier brand is the history of the air conditioner as a whole. Over a hundred years ago, Willis Haviland Carrier, a young inventor and scientist, became the creator of the first device that could control temperature and humidity. The novelty was designed for printing.

 

And in 1906 became significant for the history of the air conditioner - Carrier was patented "Air Processing Apparatus". Although the history of the company began a little later.

 

In 1915, with six partners, the inventor organized the Carrier Engineering Company. After seven years, the centrifugal chiller appeared to us. This solved the problem of conditioning significant areas of space. The first and largest client of Carrier is the Metropolitan Theater (Los Angeles).

 

And already the twenties are marked by the massive use of air conditioners. In this case, the products of this brand.

However, the creator of the brand, Willis Carrier, was confident that an important moment in the history of the company and the main test was the one hundred large order for the installation of air conditioners in Rivoli in New York, the most famous and largest cinema in America.

 

With this task the company coped successfully and deserved an excellent reputation. Literally for five years in more than three hundred theaters in America were installed air conditioning.

 

All predicted a magnificent business development, but this became a hindrance to the Great Depression (1929). And air conditioners at that time were considered luxury goods. Even large successful companies did not have the opportunity to purchase them.

 

During the Second World War, the company, like all major American enterprises, began to work for the needs of the army.

 

Widely spread household brand air conditioners only after the US economy recovered, in the post-war period. Some experts believe that it is thanks to the air-conditioning of residential buildings in poorly populated areas that more than three hundred million Americans have settled.

 

In addition, the company was engaged in the development of air conditioners for airplanes, trains, ships, cars. For example, in 1925 the first engine cooling system appeared on the ship. Then the first train cars were equipped with air-conditioners. And in 1936 it is known to install the first car air conditioner in the bus. One of the most famous developments of the legendary Carrier is an air conditioner for cars, which is also appreciated by the current owners of cars.

 

However, Carrier seemed not to notice the outstanding success and profitability of his developments. He spent 24 hours in his laboratories, continuing to work on improving his main in life invention. Willis Carrier passed away when he was 73 years old (1950). All his fortune he bequeathed to a beloved company, which until now bears his name.


Moreover, Carrier was the first company in the world to produce semi-industrial and domestic air conditioners on a new environmentally friendly refrigerant. For the use of only safe freons, the company has received countless awards.

 

The Carrier technique has done a lot to preserve countless historical values and unique works of art. For example, the priceless frescoes of the great Michelangelo (Sistine Chapel) remained in excellent form, thanks to the air conditioning system Carrier. Throughout the world, more than forty-five thousand people work for the prosperity of the famous brand. Deliveries are established in one hundred and forty-five states of the world. About twelve percent of air conditioners on the planet are made by Carrier.

 

At the same time, all air conditioning and ventilation systems are manufactured in accordance with the climate conditions in the countries where they will be implemented. Such a strategy is unique.
