AEG Brand History

AEG, since 1994, part of the world-wide group of household appliances manufacturers Electrolux AB (headquartered in Stockholm), continues to develop its leading position in the home appliances market. Two years ago, Electrolux launched a new strategy for the development of the brand AEG, clearly expressed in the slogan "perfection of forms and functions." Electrolux uses this slogan to promote its best German brand, focused on consumers with high demands on functionality and quality.

AEG became part of Germany's industrial culture. The cornerstone of the German brands was laid by the Berlin engineer Emil Ruterau, who in 1883 bought a license for the production of Edison's lamp and created the Deutsche Edison Gesellschaft (DEG) (German company Edison) in Berlin. The first electrical work was done in Berlin in 1885 and in 1887 and The company was renamed the 'Allgemeine Electricitts Gesellschaft' (AEG) (General Electric Company). Two years later, at the Berlin exhibition devoted to the prevention of accidents, AEG introduced the first household appliances: irons, kettles, cooking pots and curling irons. The company laid the groundwork for the development of household appliances and, in the future, constantly strengthened its influence on the German market of household appliances. Vacuum cleaners such as "Dandy" and its follower "Vampire", heaters, refrigerators, electric stoves and washing machines have become revolutionary innovations of daily life.

Since then, AEG has been continuously improving its technological profile and creating innovative products that define industry standards in the field of form and functionality. AEG appliances were always one step ahead of their time and embodied German culture, and concepts such as "corporate identity" began to be used long before becoming common. At the turn of the century, AEG became the first company to appoint actor and architect Peter Behrens to the post of industrial designer. For a long time, Behrens determined the general form of AEG production. To date, the well-known and popular AEG brand stands for timeless, functional and convenient design, which continues to receive awards and prizes (for example, the F-Design-Award). Till 1994 brand AEG on household appliances belongs to Electrolux - the world's leading manufacturer of household appliances.
