KRUPS Brand History

1846

The story begins in the forge of the town of Wald, near Solingen, North Rhine-Westphalia. With the owner of the forge Joshua Kortz worked several of his friends, including nephew Robert Krups. The son of the latter, also named Robert, turned the smithy into an industrial company.

 

1866

After transferring his activities to Solingen, Robert Krups (second relative, also bearing this name) and four of his nine children, quickly transform the company into a well-known factory, supplying their products to Holland and Switzerland.

 

1900

Krups quickly becomes one of the leading manufacturers of scales in Germany and at this time the desire of the company for accuracy and technical perfection of its equipment on the market is clearly evident.

 

1951

Despite the devastation caused by World War II, the third generation of the Krups family (Fritz Krups and Dr. Karl Curner) expect to revive the company once again with only 30 employees. Lawyer Karl Kurner (cousin of Fritz Krups) is perfectly oriented in the needs of the post-war market.

Fritz Krups, an experienced technical specialist, quickly translates several original ideas into successful products.

 

1956

For 110 years, the family business has been associated exclusively with the production of scales (scales with an arrow and platform scales) manufactured under the brand "Krups Ideal" - high-quality instruments for private customers and retailers.

In 1956, "Krups begins" the production of the first electric coffee grinders. As a confirmation of the consumer demand for these new products, "Krups" in the first year of production sold 1 million of these coffee makers.

 

1959

Creation of the famous mixer "3 Mixes". Practical and original this device quickly conquers the consumers of Germany and becomes the ideal symbol of modern cuisine.

 

1960

At this time in the kitchens of Germany for the first time appears small-sized household appliances. With the introduction of an electric motor, Krups becomes an innovator in the market of electrical household appliances. The company fully uses its deep knowledge and competence in the design and manufacture of modern products.

 

1961

Production of coffee machines "ONKO", which were later replaced by coffee machines "T8". This model still exists in the catalog of the company "Krups" under the number F468.

 

1964

At the peak of the 30-year postwar boom in the world, an unprecedented period of growing prosperity is observed. In Solingen (Germany) there are 4 factories of Krups and one operates in Limerick County (Ireland).

 

1967

Krups enters the new market, starting production of its first slicer.

Krups starts the production of his first coffee machine of the "express" type.
