Gorenje Brand History

The name of the company Gorenje comes from the village of Gorenje, where the company was founded in 1950. The Slovenian machine-building company, now a well-known producer of household appliances with its headquarters in Velenje, began its journey with the production of agricultural equipment.

Now the company is among the ten largest manufacturers of household appliances in Europe with the production of 1.8 million units of household appliances every month. Approximately 95% of all equipment produced at Gorenje plants is sent abroad, that is, the company is a solid exporter of products.

Initially, the company had only a small workshop for the production of machinery for agricultural work. However, after 8 years the workshop turned into the production of solid fuel stoves. 1961 became remarkable for the company in that the first deliveries of products to Germany were made. Then the company Gorenje mastered the production of modern at that time compressor refrigerators and even kitchen furniture.

The company's success also allowed it to enter the American market in the 1970s and 80s. Moreover, numerous branches of the company in the countries of Eastern Europe were opened thereafter. In 2006, Gorenje merged its assets with the Czech company Mora Moravia, which also specializes in the production of household appliances of the highest class.

Now the company produces more than two million units of household appliances per year. Including about 900 thousand plates, cooking surfaces and ovens, 1 million refrigerators, 500 thousand washing machines and other equipment that is in demand.

The company is rightly called the largest exporter of home appliances throughout the world. And all this is distinguished by a great variety of goods.
